Dorte Sjindberg Martinsen

Dorte Sindbjerg Martinsen is ACCESS EUROPE Visiting Scholar for the short period from 22-25 May 2017. She nonetheless will engage in several activities: a book presentation, a lecture and a junior researcher masterclass.

Dorte Sindbjerg Martinsen is professor at Department of Political Science, University of Copenhagen. She holds a Ph.D. from the European University Institute in Florence, where she in 2004 defended her PhD concerning political and legal dynamics regarding coordination of social security for migrant workers, i.e. Regulation 1408/71 (now 883/2004).

She returned to Copenhagen University in 2004. Her research focuses in particular on EU integration of welfare policies, including healthcare, the dynamics between law and politics in the EU, implementation, enforcement and compliance with EU policies. Martinsen's more recent publications count the book (2015) with Oxford University Press An Ever More Powerful Court? The Political Constraints of Legal Integration in the European Union, which compares political responses to the legal integration of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) within the social policy area - theoretically and empirically.
