Six ACCESS EUROPE Research Assistantships

To foster further cooperation on research on Europe, and support the professional development of young researchers, ACCESS EUROPE offers a maximum of six ACCESS EUROPE research assistantships in 2017.

ACCESS EUROPE research assistants are students currently enrolled in a Master degree in a relevant discipline or who have completed such a degree in 2014 or 2015. They undertake a clearly specified research project on a topic with a distinct European dimension under joint supervision of (at least) two academic staff members of different faculties affiliated with ACCESS EUROPE.

Such a research project should involve the preparation of a PhD proposal (e.g. for the NWO Onderzoekstalent program), as well as other activities such as

  • Data collection and analysis
  • Co-authorship of a research publication with the supervisors

Grants cover an assistantship of 0.5 fte over 6 months. However, arrangements can be adjusted for smaller appointments as well as for longer ones with a corresponding reduction in their size.

Applications should include:

  • A short motivation letter.
  • A research proposal of max. 1200 words, including a specification of the tasks to be undertaken and a plan for their completion.
  • Curriculum Vitae of the applicant, including an overview of university grades proving that the candidate will be eligible for an NWO Onderzoekstalent grant (see document below for details).
  • Letters from supervisors (at least two), confirming their willingness to supervise the project, with one of them confirming that she or he will host the Research Assistant.
